Prayer & Scripture Engagement

To cultivate a spiritually mature and Christ-centered church by establishing consistent prayer and deep engagement with Scripture as foundational practices, equipping members with sound doctrine, strong faith and a lifestyle of daily devotion.

Context & Trend

As a body of believers, we believe in a holistic faith that is rooted in communion with God and knowledge of His word. The church is committed to this belief by providing opportunities for members to grow in intimacy with the Father and to be anchored in biblical truth.

In a world full of controversies, students at given instances are caught up immersed in the contemporary world's digital saturation, relentless noise and inquiry into faith, making the discipline of Scripture engagement a counter-cultural struggle.

Colossians 3:16 — "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom..." is necessary so as not to be tossed up by elemental doctrines and emerging heresies. Ephesians 4:14 — "Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching…"

As a church, we have had a number of challenges in prayers such as lack of venues for prayer meetings such as morning and evening devotions, and the low turnout of members during prayer meetings. Over the years the CU records a huge number of members in prayers but the number gradually decreases over time.
